Hackathon 360

On June 2nd-3rd, Capitol360 hosted the first ever major label-sponsored Hackathon inside the legendary Capitol Recording Studios.

During the two-day event, competing software developers had access to a catalog of roughly 14,000 Universal Music Group and Universal Music Publishing Group pre-cleared audio streaming tracks as well as never-before-seen original content and archival assets, office hours with Capitol artists, and mentorship from veteran industry leaders and UMG’s technology partners. Capitol Studios in Hollywood served as the gathering grounds for the 100 software developers, acclaimed artists, producers, and songwriters who participated in a challenge to incubate new waves of music-related products, services, and content.

The event brought together a powerhouse set of partners including Microsoft, Cloudinary, Consensys, 7digital, TiVo, Gener8tor, and LeanSquare, as well as a rockstar panel of judges and mentors including Don Was (Blue Note/Capitol), Dion “No I.D.” Wilson (ARTium/Capitol), Rishi Patel (Plus 8 Equity), Tuhin Roy (UMG), Lilly Kam (i.am+), Christine Cao (Paradigm Talent Agency) and Gerome Vanherf (LeanSquare).

Capitol Music Group artists The Greeting Committee, ONR, and Marieme gave stellar live performances and Brian Justin Crum performed a song written, produced, and recorded during the hackathon in partnership with Fernando Garibay. To close an amazing weekend, Jammcard hosted a JammJam After Party for winners and key partners, featuring a performance by Ty Dolla $ign.
